O'Regan | Very numerous: mainly Cork. Ir. Ó Riagáin (perhaps dimin. of rí, a king). A sept of Meath and one of the "Tribes of Tara", who were dispersed at the Invasion. There were other septs in Thomond and Cork. The pronounciation in Munster is Réagán, which would account for the name of President Ronald Reagan of USA. IF & SGG. |
