Gilmartin numerous: Sligo-Leitrim and adjoining areas. Ir. Mac Giolla Mhartain, (devotee of St Martin). Once chiefs of Clogher, Tyrone, they were forced into Connacht and also occur as Kilmartin. As Martin, the name is widespread in Ulster. IF & SGG.
Kilmartin fairly numerous: Roscommon-Galway-Clare, Midlands. Ir. Mac Giolla Mhartain (devotee of St Martin). Originally related to the O'Neills of Ulster, they were forced into Connacht in 17 cent. Also as Gilmartin and Martin. IF.
