Dooley	numerous: all areas; particularly Midlands, Kilkenny-Tipperary, Galway. Ir. Ó Dubhlaoich (dark warrior). Woulfe mentions three families in Meath, W Meath and Galway. The Meath grouping later settled in Laois. IF.
Dowley	Quite numerous Waterford etc. Ir. Ó Dubhlaoich, variant of Dooley, q.v.
Ó Dubhlaoich	Dooley, Dowley: líonmhar tríd an dtír: go sonrach sa Lár, Cill Chainnigh, Tiobraid Árann, Gaillimh. Ainmníonn de Bhulbh trí chlann - dhá cheann i Lár na Tíre agus ceann i nGaillimh. Brí: dubh + laoch. IF.
