Slavin rare: Belfast, Louth etc. Northern form of Slevin, q.v.
Slevin numerous: all areas, especially Tyrone-Derry-Donegal, Connacht, South East. The Irish is Ó Sléibhín, from a first name based on sliabh, mountain. Gerard Slevin (1919-97) was Chief Herald of Ireland 1954-81. He designed the flag of the European Union. GPN.
