Surname Dictionary

Malanaphy rare: Derrylin (Fermanagh). Ir. Ó Maolainbhthe, "chief of the storm". A name associated with Tipperary as Molamphy, q.v. Maol in this case is Celtic maglos, noble, prince, not to be confused with maol, devotee or tonsured one.
Molumby fairly rare: Tipperary-Limerick, Dublin. Ir. Ó Maolchomadh. Woulfe connects this name with S W Cork. Its present location suggests a link with Melanophy, q.v. SI.
