MacQuinn fairly rare: Kerry-Limerick. Ir. Mac Cuinn, from first name Conn.
Ó Cuinn Quinn: an-líonmhar ar fud na tíre. Bhí clanna éagsúla i dTír Eoghain, Aontroim, Longfort, an Clár, Maigh Eo. In Ulaidh, tá meascadh le Ó Coinne, q.v. An t-ainm stairiúil Conn is préamh don sloinne seo. Ciallaíonn sé saoi nó taoiseach, deirtear.
Quinn Very numerous: all areas, especially Ulster. Ir. Ó Cuinn, from first name Conn, meaning, perhaps, "chief" or "sense". There were a number of septs: Thomond (Clare), Tyrone, Antrim, Longford. Those of Thomond are represented by the Earl of Dunraven.
