Surname Dictionary

Logue numerous: Donegal-Tyrone-Derry etc. Ir. Ó Maolmhaodhóg, devotee of St Maodhóg (Mogue). Modern: Ó Laoghóg. Also appearing as Molloy. The name originated in Galway, where it has become Leech, q.v. MIF.
Ó Laoghóg Logue, Leech: líonmhar: giorrú ar Ó Maolmhaodhóg in Ultaibh ach tá an bun-shloinne mar Leech i nGaillimh mar a bhfuil siad annamh. I gCill Conaill, Gaillimh, a bhí an chlann sa bunaithe ar dtús. In oirthear na tíre, is sloinne gallda Leech a chiallaíonn lia, dochtúir.
Ó Maolaodhóg Logue: líonmhar: Tír Chonaill-Tír Eoghain-Doire. Thosnaigh an sloinne seo i gConnachta ach is in iarthar Uladh atáid le fáil sna taifid stairiúla. Féach Ó Maolmhaodhóg.
