Deighnan fairly rare: Connacht, Belfast area (Deignan). Ir. Ó Duibhgeannáin (dark head). See Duignan which relates to Roscommon. SGA gives Ó Duígeannáin as the modern version.
Dignam fairly numerous: Dublin etc. See Duigenan.
Dignan rare: scattered. See Duigenan.
Duignan fairly numerous: Midlands, E Connacht. Ir. Ó Duibhgeannáin. Derivation possibly similar to Duffin. They were a noted literary family of Roscommon. SGG.
