I measc na scríbhneoirí, luaimís Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1816), drámadóir & polaiteoir i Sasana agus Donncha Ó Sireadáin a d'aistrigh an Bíobla go Gaeilge sa 17 céad agus é ag comhoibriú leis an easpag William Bedell. I Meiriceá, ní bhfaighfeá dearmad a dhéanamh ar an nGinearál Phil Sheridan (1831-88). Ní fios an bhrí. SGG & IF.
Sheridan Very numerous: all areas, especially N Leinster, S Ulster, Connacht. Ir. Ó Sirideáin. They were an erenagh family of Longford, who later attached themselves to the O'Reillys of Breifne (Cavan) as scholars. Over the centuries they have produced some remarkable writers and at least one general, Philip H. Sheridan of the U.S. Army. SGG & IF.
