Mac Síthigh Sheehy: líonmhar: gach treo - sa Mhumhain ach go h-áirithe. Gallóglaigh ó Albain, gaolmhar le Mac Domhnaill, a tháinig go h-Éirinn ón 14 céad ar aghaidh. Bhí siad in Ulaidh ar dtús ach bhog siad ó dheas i 1420 le bheith i seirbhís Iarla Dheasmhumhan i Luimneach agus d'fhan ann. Maidir leis an mbrí: féach Ó Síodhacháin -dream míleata a b'ea na Síthigh agus is ar éigin a oireann "síochánta" dóibh. Ar nós a lán, chruthaigh siad go maith mar shaighdiúirí ar an Mór-Roinn sa 18 céad. SGG & IF.
Sheehy numerous: all areas, especially Munster. Ir. Mac Síthigh (possibly sídeach, wolf). See Sheehan. Originally galloglasses from Scotland, they settled in Limerick in 16 cent, though they are still found in Tyrone. IF.
