Surname Dictionary

Halloran Quite numerous: Connacht and scattered. Ir. Ó h-Allmhúráin, allmhúrach, a stranger from overseas, a pirate! Originally two septs: Galway and Clare. For more correct distribution see the more numerous O'Halloran. IF & SGG.
Holleran fairly rare: Galway-Mayo. A Connacht variant of Halloran & O'Halloran, q.v.
Ó h-Allmhúráin O'Halloran: líonmhar gach áird, sa Mhumhain ach go h-áirithe. Brí: duine ón gcoigrích nó foghlaí mara! Clanna a bhí in (a) Gaillimh, (b) Tuathmhumhain. IF,MIF.
O'Halloran Very numerous: all areas, especially Munster. Ir. Ó h-Allmhúráin, allmhúrach, foreign. There were septs in Clare and Galway. See also Halloran. IF.
