MacCue fairly rare: Belfast area etc. Ir. Mac Aodha. A form of Mac Hugh in Ulster. It must be noted that the Teutonic Hugh bears no semantic relationship with Celtic Aodh. One was arbitrarily substituted for the other.
MacHugh Very numerous: all areas, especially Connacht & Ulster. Ir. Mac Aodha from early first name Aodh, "fire", now always anglicised Hugh. There were septs in Galway & Ulster.
MacKew rare: Armagh. Variant of Mac Hugh, q.v.
