Hanaphy rare: Dublin etc. Ir. Ó h-Ainbhith (Ainfidh). Ainbhioth = storm. See Hanevy and Hanniffy. Woulfe mentions four septs of this name, (1) Armagh-Down, (2) Oriel, (3) Meath, (4) Cork.
Hanniffy Quite numerous: Galway-Offaly. Ir. Ó h-Ainbhith, ainbhioth, storm. Woulfe mentions a sept in Meath which may relate to this group. The leading sept was in Ulster, see Hannaway.
Hinfey rare: Down etc. Apparently Irish, the basic name has not emerged. Hinphey in Dublin.
