de Gaillidhe Galway: líonmhar in Ultaibh mar a mbaineann le Gallghallaibh Alban ach bhí an sloinne seo sa deisceart ón 13 céad. Bhain siad leis na Búrcaigh agus, b'fhéidir, le Cathair na Gaillimhe. Bhí siad chun tosaigh i gCorcaigh sa 15 & 16 céad. Tá Galway le fáil i gCiarraí anois agus tá an leagan Galloway líonmhar ó thuaidh. IF.
Galloway fairly numerous: Antrim, Down and scattered in the South. Ir. de Gaillidhe, (Gaillí). The name is clearly derived from Galloway in Scotland but has been in Ireland since 13 cent, and may have connections with Galway, (q.v.) as the name usually appears in this form in the south. Scots Gaelic for the area: Gallghallaibh. IF.
Gallwey rare: scattered in South. See Galway.
Galway numerous: Belfast, Down and scattered in south. Some southern Galways were thought to be descended from the Burkes. They were connected with the cities of Cork and Limerick. IF.
