Surname Dictionary

Deavy Very rare: Galway. Ir. Ó Duíbhí (SGA). See Deevy.
Deevy fairly rare: S Leinster, Waterford etc. Ir. Ó Dubhuidhe, Duibhidhe. Woulfe says this is an abbreviation of Ó Dubhuidhir. More commonly as Devoy. One of the "Seven Septs of Laois", transplanted in 1607.MIF & SGG.
Devey rare: Dublin.

Deir O'Donovan go raibh Ó Duibh orthu ar dtús ach tá fianaise ón 16 céad go raibh Ó Duibhidhe orthu annsan. Díbríodh go Ciarraí i 1607 iad ach ní móide gur fhanadar ann.
