Surname Dictionary

Delea rare: W Limerick, Cork. Ir. Ó Duinnshléibhe, (according to Woulfe but this is doubtful). This name occurs as Dullea, Dully, Dunlea. SGA gives mod. Ir. Ó Duilé.
Dullea mod.nos: W Cork. Ir. possibly Ó Duinnshléibhe. See Dunlea & Delea. MIF.
Dully rare: scattered. Ir. possibly Ó Duinnshléibhe although MacLysaght has reservations about applying this Ulster name to a southern group. See Dullea, Dunlea, Delea.MIF.
Dunlea fairly numerous: Cork. Ir. Ó Duinnshléibhe (Doinnlé). Also as Delea, Dulea, Dully. This name is peculiar to Cork and Kerry, and presumably quite distinct from the Ulster family of Dunleavy, q.v. SGA gives Ó Duilé, which corresponds to local pronounciation.
Ó Duinnshléibhe Dunleavy, Dunlea, Delee: cuíosach líonmhar: Corcaigh, iarthar Luimnigh & rl. Is cosúil nach bhfuil aon bhaint leis na h-Ultaigh thuas, in ainneoin tuairim de Bhulbh. B'fhéidir gur éiríodar as an dtreabh Ó Duthalla i Muscraí, b'in tuairim Mhic Ghiolla Iasachta. Is Muimhnigh iad anois go smior - ní féidir a thuilleadh a rá. An litriú nua: Ó Doinnlé. IF & SGG.
