Deevy fairly rare: S Leinster, Waterford etc. Ir. Ó Dubhuidhe, Duibhidhe. Woulfe says this is an abbreviation of Ó Dubhuidhir. More commonly as Devoy. One of the "Seven Septs of Laois", transplanted in 1607.MIF & SGG.
Devey rare: Dublin.
Ó Dubhuidhe Devoy, Deevy: líon beag: Osraí agus Port Lairge. Ceann de "Seacht gClann Laoise". Deir O'Donovan go raibh Ó Duibh orthu ar dtús ach tá fianaise ón 16 céad go raibh Ó Duibhidhe orthu annsan. Díbríodh go Ciarraí i 1607 iad ach ní móide gur fhanadar ann. Ní féidir bheith cinnte faoi bhunús an t-sloinne. Litriú nua: Ó Dubhuí.
