Collen fairly rare: Ulster etc. A variant of Cullen in Ulster.
Cullen Very numerous: widespread all provinces, particularly S E Leinster. Ir. Ó Cuilinn, perhaps a personal name from cuileann, holly. The sept originated in Wicklow. The large numbers arise partly because of absorption of other names, e.g. Culhoun, Cullinan. IF.
