Caraher fairly rare: Armagh, Monaghan, Louth. Ir. Mac Fhearchair. See Carragher.
Carragher fairly numerous: Oriel (S Ulster) etc. Ir. Mac Fhearchair. The early Irish personal name Ferchar meant, perhaps, "friendly". It occurs as Farquhar (Scotland) and Forker (Ulster). MIF.
Garraher Ir. Mag Fhearchair. The name does not appear in current telephone directories, but has been previously recorded. Found in Roscommon - see Carraher.
